Good Friday: The Crucifixion – The Lamb Who Takes Away Sin

At En-Joy Ministries, Good Friday stands at the very center of our faith—the day of ultimate sacrifice and redemption. Though the cross appears dark, the full gospel shines with hope. The Holy Spirit now opens our minds to understand (Luke 24:45), transforming sorrow into the deep joy of the Lord that is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10).

The Setting: Trials and the Cross

Jesus endured six trials: before Annas, Caiaphas, the Sanhedrin, Pilate, Herod, and Pilate again. He was scourged, mocked, and crucified at Golgotha (all four Gospels detail this day, with John emphasizing eyewitness testimony). At 9 a.m. the nails were driven; at 3 p.m. He cried, “It is finished!” and died (John 19:30).

Prophetic Fulfillment: Isaiah 53 in Living Color

Every detail fulfilled prophecy: pierced hands and feet (Psalm 22), divided garments (Psalm 22:18), no broken bones (Exodus 12:46; Psalm 34:20), and the suffering Servant “wounded for our transgressions” (Isaiah 53:5). Darkness covered the land (Amos 8:9) as the perfect Passover Lamb was slain.

The Sacred Cost and Our Redemption

Jesus’ final words— “Father, forgive them” (Luke 23:34) and “It is finished” (John 19:30)—reveal complete forgiveness and victory. The veil was torn, opening access to God forever (Matthew 27:51).

Cultivating Joy at the Foot of the Cross

A Prayer for Good Friday

Heavenly Father, we stand at the foot of the cross in gratitude and awe. Thank You for the Lamb who was slain for us. Let the joy of Your salvation flood our hearts today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
