Worship of God

Any discussion of what the church should do must include worship. Throughout both the Old and New Testaments, God’s people are called to minister to God in worship. “You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light” (1 Peter 2:9).

King David’s Greatest Sin

The Bible tells us in 1 Samuel 13:14 that David was “a man after God’s own heart”, yet he sinned against God; he broke The Law. Recorded history reveals that King David broke “Thou Shalt Not Kill” and “Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery” out of selfishness, out of the lust of his flesh.  Perhaps most […]

I AM that I AM, One True God

There is one true God. In the beginning the Trinity—The Father, The Word, and Holy Spirit—was and is; they are eternal. Three persons, but ONE true God. Jehovah is God; He, Himself, states it irrefutably as “I AM that I AM.” The Scripture of the New Testament clearly teaches the equality of Jesus with God […]

An Ambassador represents a king, a leader in word and truth confidently for Him. In Word and Truth: There is a current […]

A CALL TO REPENTANCE, AND A PROMISE OF RESTORATION

Joel is commanding the leaders to call for a fast which is a sacred assembly, a gathering designed for prayer and repentance, for crying out to God for His mercy. Joel presents a vivid picture of the consequences of sin and shows us how to respond with true repentance. The kind of repentance that leads to holiness is not merely an outward show, but an inward, sincere, heartrending brokenness over sin. When sin occurs corporately, as it did in Israel, God calls upon leaders to gather the people in a solemn assembly in which they fast, pray, and cry out for His mercy and forgiveness. As we see sin in the church and in the nation, we would do well to heed Joel’s exhortations and cry out to God corporately for our generation. Fasting and prayer are meant to seek God’s answer for difficult situations.

Unforgettable Touchdown

By Barron Greenwalt, 1992   It was the last minutes if the game. Waiting, I breathed the heavy air filled with the sweaty odor of my fellow players. It seemed to be a reminder of the weighted burden of my purpose, hold the other teams back, finally, the quarterback called the snap count, “…., […]
