As the lead pastor of En-Joy Ministries, where we are committed to Cultivating Joy and growing Faith, I often find myself reflecting on the timeless truths that anchor our souls amid the storms of our world. Today, I want to consider something profoundly urgent: the role of faith in preserving the very fabric of our nation. In a time when joy feels elusive and faith is under siege, it’s more critical than ever to remember that our spiritual heritage isn’t just a personal refuge—it’s the bedrock of liberty itself.
Religion is the bedrock of our constitutional republic—not a full-blown democracy, but a system designed to safeguard individual liberty through self-governance. Yet its principles hold true for any free society: true democracy thrives not on an ever-expanding government apparatus, but on citizens who voluntarily choose to uphold the law. We’ve already witnessed the alternative. Our federal behemoth has ballooned into a bloated, overreaching monster, its tentacles snaking into every corner of our lives—from the jobs we pursue to the pennies we earn. It micromanages our choices, erodes our privacy, and smothers our freedoms under the guise of “protection.” This isn’t governance; it’s control.
In our nation’s founding era, that voluntary spirit was forged in the pews of churches and synagogues, where most Americans gathered weekly. There, trusted spiritual leaders instilled not just moral codes, but a profound sense of accountability—not merely to society, but to a higher power. We obeyed because we believed our actions echoed in eternity, binding us to timeless truths beyond any earthly decree.
But today, as religion—especially Christianity—wanes in influence, a perilous void emerges. What will fill it? Not the family hearth or community hall, but the ivory towers of colleges and universities, now bastions of radical liberal ideology. These institutions are indoctrinating our next generation with a secular worldview that mocks faith, exalts moral relativism, and worships the state as savior. They churn out young minds primed to surrender liberty for the illusion of equity, trading personal responsibility for government handouts and surveillance.
Folks, faith isn’t just a personal comfort—it’s our last line of defense against total subjugation. Without it, we’ll be utterly overtaken: not by divine judgment, but by the iron grip of bureaucrats and enforcers who police our thoughts, our wallets, and our souls. If we let religion fade, who will teach tomorrow’s Americans to choose obedience to God over obeisance to the overlords?
At En-Joy Ministries, we believe that reclaiming this spiritual heritage begins with intentional steps toward deeper faith. Drawing from Nehemiah 8:10—”The joy of the Lord is your strength”—we’re dedicated to equipping believers with the tools to stand firm. Whether through our weekly Bible studies, outreach events like our Impact Men’s Nights, or resources like my book Deliberate Steps: Deepening Your Walk with Christ, we’re here to help you cultivate that unshakeable joy that empowers resistance to cultural decay.
The hour is late—will we reclaim our spiritual heritage, or consign our republic to the abyss? I challenge you today: Commit to your local church. Mentor a young person in the truths of Scripture. And above all, let the joy of the Lord renew your strength to fight for freedom.
