Enough Is Enough: It’s Time to Stand Up!

By Pastor Barron Greenwalt, En-Joy Ministries

Folks, this morning I was dealing with our local school taxes here in Pennsylvania. My property taxes are increasing so much that my escrow account has had to be adjusted, which means my monthly mortgage payment is also rising. Then I read about the NYC Department of Education, in another state, spending $745,823 in a single year at Fusion East, a Brooklyn Caribbean and soul food restaurant, under the excuse of “supporting minority- and women-owned businesses.” When will you grow a backbone and push back?

I write my legislators often, and I’m begging you to do the same, but hardly anyone does. I create petition after petition and share them with everyone, yet barely any of my friends or family sign them. Why is that? Your silence is deafening. I keep hearing, “It does no good; they’ll do what they want anyway.” Stop and listen to yourselves! When you say “they,” you’re talking about elected officials who are supposed to represent us, not rule over us. If we don’t get involved, they’ll keep taxing us into oblivion and misusing our money. Yes, that NYC example is from another state, but it’s a blatant case of fraud, corruption, and abuse of our tax dollars right in our faces. It’s happening everywhere, including here in Pennsylvania.

Take “Paul Miller’s Law,” passed in Pennsylvania and effective June 5, 2025. It bans holding a cell phone or any device while driving, even at a red light or in traffic. I get the distracted driving concern, but I guarantee if you took a consensus of Pennsylvania voters, we didn’t want this law. When “they” pass laws against the will of the people, that’s taxation without representation. When will you speak up?

As a pastor at En-Joy Ministries, I know many folks in the Christian community—pastors and supposed leaders included. I’ve begged them to support my petition to repeal the Johnson Amendment, a law that silences the church’s voice in politics, a place where our voice should ring loudly. Guess how many signed it? Not one. Why? At En-Joy Ministries, we’re called to cultivate joy and grow faith, and that means standing up for what’s right. Nehemiah 8:10 says, “The joy of the Lord is your strength.” Let that joy fuel your courage to act!

Your silence is letting “they” rob us blind. It’s time to do something—write your legislators, sign my petitions, and demand accountability. Visit our website to join our mission to be a voice for change. If we don’t act, we’re letting corruption win. Stand up, church, and let’s grow our faith through action!

In Christ,
Pastor Barron Greenwalt
