At En-Joy Ministries, we believe that “The joy of the Lord is our strength” (Nehemiah 8:10), and our garden is a living testament to this truth. This summer, despite the challenges of unpredictable weather and excessive rainfall, our Greenwalt Farms Garden is bursting with God’s goodness—brimming with vibrant yellow squash, crisp cucumbers, and tender zucchini. These gifts from the earth reflect the beauty of God’s creation, reminding us of Romans 1:20: His eternal power and divine nature are revealed through what He has made.
This year’s late planting and heavy rains posed challenges, impacting calcium absorption in our crops. Yet, just as we cultivate joy in our hearts through intentional care, we’re tending our garden with adjustments to nurture a bountiful harvest. As we explain in our blog, Cultivating Joy, Growing Faith, cultivating is the deliberate act of preparing the soil—whether it’s the earth or your heart—while growing is God’s work of bringing forth fruit (1 Corinthians 3:6-7). We plant and water, but God provides the increase.
Our garden’s yield is ready to share! Picture this: zucchini and yellow squash, sliced into perfect julienne strips with a mandoline slicer, ready to star in a refreshing creamy cucumber salad—a summertime favorite that delights the palate and nourishes the soul. These vegetables aren’t just food; they’re a way to connect with God’s creation and share His love. As we say at En-Joy Ministries, “No joy, no strength”—and these fresh harvests are a taste of the joy we cultivate together.
Come by Greenwalt Farms to pick up some yellow squash, cucumbers, or zucchini. Each veggie comes with a touch of scripture, tucked into our farm-fresh egg cartons or shared through our outreach, to feed both body and spirit. Join us in this season of cultivating joy and growing faith, just as we nurture our garden to produce a harvest that glorifies God.
