Enhancing Personal Evangelism Through the Holy Spirit’s Guidance and Godly Living

We’ve all been there. Someone we care about—someone with whom we’ve shared the gospel clearly and often—refuses to submit his or her life to Christ.

From studying the entire Book of Revelation four times; at least, one thing is clear to me –  a commitment to evil is hard to break.

Consider this: After the 21 judgments of the seals, trumpets, and bowl are completed, there is not even a single change of heart. There has been the opportunity to turn from the Satan-inspired Antichrist and give full allegiance to Christ, but they do not.

One must determine to make the change, and then turn to God for help in forsaking evil and embracing righteousness.

In our present age, the Holy Spirit helps those who sincerely seek His help. Scripture records that no one repented after several judgments strongly suggest that repentance was possible, yet the desire to repent no longer stirred within the rebellious. Anger and blasphemy against God were no doubt prompted by Satan with the people’s consent.

If you’re confident you’ve shared the gospel clearly with your family and friends, they know where you stand.  It is my opinion to be quiet and keep praying. Pray for them regularly if you feel led to do so.

Remember this: Effective personal evangelism is not merely about what we know but about whom we know. Our personal relationship with Jesus is an integral part of our witness. Making the message clear involves what we say, how we say it, and who we are.

Sometimes we may be at a loss for what to say, but if our manner and character reflect the love of Christ, we will be more effective than if we say the right words in a manner inconsistent with the message of Christ.

The Apostle Paul needed the Spirit’s help to share Christ clearly, we do too.

We need the Holy Spirit’s help just as Jesus’ first followers did. The Holy Spirit enables us to be what God wants us to be—a witness for Jesus Christ in what we do, say, and are.

In a culture that is resistant, and even hostile to Christianity, our message must be accompanied by godly, blameless Christian living. The validity of our message is connected to the credibility of our lives. If our lives aren’t credible, the likelihood of a salvation decision among those we are trying to reach will suffer and, in many cases, fail.
