Something fascinating about Revelation Chapters 4 and 5 is the focus that is placed upon the grand and central activity of heaven: WORSHIP

The 24 elders worship God, and the Bible tells us that they “fall down before Him who is seated on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever”, the 4 living creatures worship God, they are seen by John to be encircling the Lamb of God, who is at the center of the scene. He is deserving of all Worship. There are angels numbering thousands upon thousands and 10 thousand times 10 thousand, they are worshiping.

Every creature in heaven, on earth, and under the earth, they are also singing.

A multitude of hymns and worship songs from “Holy Holy Holy, is the Lord God Almighty” to “Thou Art Worthy” are all rooted in Revelation Ch. 4 & 5

May I suggest the marking down of Revelation Ch. 5 on your list of great chapters of the Bible because it should remind us more than anything else of how important worship is. It is the only activity that presently engages my attention and will still be important to me in eternity.

Whatever your current job is, you likely won’t be doing that in Heaven, but you will be worshiping. It also reminds me that the only real motivation that will stand for eternity is the desire to give God and the Lord Jesus Christ all the honor, all the glory, and all the worship they so richly deserve.
