Are You Thoroughly Understood To Be A Follower Of Christ?

For since the creation of the world his invisible attributes – His eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen because they are understood through what has been made.
So, people are without excuse. -Romans 1:20, (NET)

Are you thoroughly understood to be a follower of Christ? That’s the question every believer should ask themselves. The translated “clearly seen” in the above scripture points to the simple truth that every person encounters and sees abundant evidence of God’s existence and power. Therefore, why are there still those who profess as non-believers?

The way I see it, based on my observations and conversations with non-believers, I do not think non-belief is the root of the issue but rather people choose not to follow Jesus because they prefer their lifestyle over the lifestyle Jesus exemplifies. It is a matter of simply rejecting the life that Jesus offers. It really is that simple. Tragically simple.

Here is a Word study about the evidence God provides to the world as being “clearly seen”.   “Clearly seen” is translated in Romans 1:20 from the Greek word ‘kathorao’ (Strong’s #2529) which means to look down, see from above, view from on high, and to see thoroughly, perceive clearly and understand. It comes from root words (#2596 and #3709), meaning to behold fully, and distinctly.

In John 3:21 (NKJV), we read:

“But he who does the truth comes to the light,

that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”

This “clearly seen” is translated from the Greek word ‘phaneroo’ (Strong’s #5319) which means to make manifest or visible or known what had been previously hidden or unknown; to be made manifest, whether by words, deed or in any other way it is now made actual and visible and realized; to make known by teaching; to expose a view; to become known, to be plainly recognized, thoroughly understood, who and what one is in reality.

Even deeper understanding comes when one accepts or admits the existence of God and truly receives Jesus as their personal Savior because the Holy Spirit creates a new spirit within us and gives us “the mind of Christ”.

God has revealed [God’s plans] to us by the Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God… we have the mind of Christ.” -1 Cor. 2:10,16

Are you a believer? If so, are you also a follower of Christ? It is undeniable; everyone can see God through the created world, being therefore without excuse and believers are without excuse to be KNOWN as followers of Christ. Many preachers have asked congregations, “Is there enough evidence to convict you as a Christian?”  So, the question remains, are you thoroughly understood to be a follower of Christ? Does it manifest in your day-to-day? In your words and your deeds?
